REFLECTIONS:
I am humbled and privileged to be invited to support and companion people in possibly one of the darkest and painful times in life - experiencing a bereavement. It is a truly rewarding role.
My personal satisfaction comes from companioning people through ideals and requests that later, in reflection, become moments that comfort - not regrets for missed or lost opportunities.
Finally, having an understanding of your own personal loss and grieving process and unique coping strategies can be healing and in time and process, may promote personal growth. With this I encourage education and self awareness, however in your own time and what feels right for you now.
"There are no words, no protection and no quick fix for your pain. You are not alone, there are those that on invite, will walk beside you for the while.”

"For the last 5 years I have been on the committee of the Christchurch Multiple Birth club, I have held a number of positions, including Co-President and Treasurer. During this time, Karen Jefferson freely provided her time and growing expertise to those members who needed support through bereavement. Karen has been an ardent advocate for the needs of the bereaved families and built up a fantastic pool of resources, including books, & dvd’s, that greatly helped people through the grief process. I often admired Karen’s resourcefulness and networking skills as she sourced funding for studies, and found a number of suppliers of mementos such as candles, plaques and cards that she was able to provide to clients as part of her work through the grieving process. I wish Karen all the best as she completes her studies and turns her passion into her career."

"People often ask me, when did my interest in bereavement start?....
It started at the age of 12 when my Mother took me to Dr E. Kübler-Ross's workshop here in Christchurch, in the 1980's. Thank you Mum and Elisabeth, my road is one less traveled!"
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference"
Robert Frost
